Wireless modem

The most common setup in many projects is to rely on a traditional programmable RC transmitter in the 2.4Ghz band for sending signals from ground to vehicle, and a secondary data band for sending signals from vehicle to ground. Digital wireless modems are available for the 315, 433, 868, 900-928, and 2400mhz bands in the US with license-free operation.

The most-documented option for 2.4/900 operation is one of the Digi International Zigbee/Xbee 900mhz modems, or if the control frequency is some other band, their 2.4ghz models. Less-used models exist from Lairdtech, Nordic, and other manufacturers.
