[edit] Streamer

In normal RC combat, planes fly while towing a paper streamer, and attempt to cut each other's streamers. Points are awarded for streamers cut, for the amount of one's own streamer that remains, and for continuous flight. As a competitive community, these pilots perform valuable functional testing of powerful airframes. While midair collisions do happen frequently, that is not the aim nor the points incentive.

[edit] Full Contact

Full contact combat involves a last-man-standing attempt to collide with another airplane, but still stay in the air. While this is a less common activity, the planes for this tend to be scratchbuilt, ruggedized examples, with a competitive balancing act between fast, maneuverable, durable, easy to repair, and aerodynamically self-recovering. While these planes are sometimes marked with streamers, the incentive is to achieve midair collisions.
