Battery charger

A LiPo battery is a slightly dangerous device which requires a specialized charging system. The charger needs to pick up on cues like cell voltage and minmum discharge in order to automatically shut off - it is inherently a 'smart' device, unlike nimh or nicad chargers. The multi-cell LIPOs that are used in RC are even more complex, and require the array of elements in the battery to be charged evenly, something that can't be inferred from the discharge contacts. An entire separate ribbon cable is used for balancing the battery cells, and this is why LIPOs come with two wire bundles hanging off them, the discharge contacts (usually yerminated in 'dean's plug'), and the balancing plug.
